Bernard is a successful bottom-line oriented executive with a proven track record of executing operational turnarounds in a variety of middle-market companies. From 2006 to 2011, Bernard served as President of Hart & Cooley, a manufacturer of residential and commercial products, successfully guiding the business through a 75% reduction in housing start market while improving the company’s profitability from single to double digits. He also led business acquisition due diligence teams and consolidated Selkirk, a $150 million business into H&C. Prior to H&C, Bernard was a General Manager at Lennox from 1999 to 2006, overseeing production of Lennox branded residential appliances which accounted for 30% of the company’s revenue and 60% of its profit. He has also served as Plant Manager at Emerson, Lord Corp. and Ingersoll Rand. Earlier in his career he spent 16 years at multiple assignments and businesses at GE.
Bernard has served on the Iowa Governor’s Advanced Manufacturing Advisory Council and the State of Iowa Economic Board. In 2002 he earned the National Management Association’s Gold Knight of Management award. Bernard graduated Magna Cum Laude with Mechanical Engineering degree from University of New Hampshire. He has an MS in Industrial Administration from Purdue University and completed the University of Tennessee’s Lean Management Systems Design Institute.
